Nightingale Mural
The Nightingale is a LGBTQ+ nightclub in Birmingham’s gay district. To celebrate their reopening following lockdown they commissioned several artists to design and install 2D within the three floors of the building.
My design aims to celebrate some of the communities that come under the LGBTQ+ umbrella, whilst tying in botanical imagery that relates to said group. Lavender is often representational of lesbian love, pansies or homosexual, violets of bisexuality and roses for the trans community. Keeping to various shades of pink, purple and yellow on the black walls I hoped that the work would stand out in the dimly lit space whilst also promoting solidarity and expressing the beautify and defiance of each group represented.
