Window Artists were approached by Birmingham Design Festival, an annual event which brings together creatives in a series of talks and events that include a big exhibition of local designers’ work.

The event theme was colour and the design brief was simply Creative City . We were given a bright colour palette to incorporate into our submission so that each work ties together nicely.

The piece I designed is titled The Big B and features a trippy giant B encompassing imagery of local arts organisations, galleries, studios and other venues that help make Birmingham’s art scene so vibrant and exciting. There is scaffolding against the B with a team of artisan workers tending to it in uniforms that mirror the flag of Birmingham and stylised imagery of the city scape in the background.

The piece was large format at 60×40″ size and also fly posted along with the other artworks around the streets of Birmingham along with being featured in the festival’s catalogue.
